Editorial Policy
How Love Kotor researches, fact-checks and updates its Kotor and Bay of Kotor guides — and who writes and edits them.
- ✓Every guide is researched against primary and official sources and reviewed by a named editor before it publishes.
- ✓Time-sensitive facts — boat seasons, ferry times, cruise calls, seasonal tickets — are flagged to verify rather than frozen into the prose.
- ✓Recommendations are editorial and independent: no payment for inclusion, no affiliate links, no commission.
Who writes and edits these guides
Love Kotor's guides are written and edited by Ana Vujović, Editor, Love Kotor, with the Love Kotor editorial team. Ana writes Love Kotor from the Bay of Kotor — researching the Old Town, the city walls and the bay the slow way, and updating the guides each season.
Each page carries a visible byline and a last-updated date, so you always know who stands behind the advice and when it was last checked.
How we research and fact-check
We build each guide from a mix of time on the ground and careful desk research. Routes are walked, timings are paced, and the small practical details — where the boats leave from, which lanes are car-free, how long the wall-walk really takes — come from doing them, not guessing. For history, geography and anything verifiable, we check against primary and official sources and prefer evergreen framing over numbers that drift.
We separate the durable from the perishable. The shape of the bay, the story of Our Lady of the Rocks, the founding of St Tryphon's Cathedral — these are stable, so we state them plainly. Prices, opening hours, ferry timetables and cruise calls change with the season and the year, so we flag them to verify on the day and point to the official source. The famously disputed step count up to St John Fortress is given as an honest field estimate, not a false precision.

Independence and corrections
Recommendations are editorial. We accept no payment for inclusion and earn no commission on the boats, hotels, restaurants or tours we mention; there are no affiliate links here, and if that ever changes we will say so plainly on the page. Photography is either our own or used under licence with attribution.
We re-walk the routes and re-check the seasonal details every year, ahead of the summer, and re-date pages when we revise them. If you spot an error — a moved boat dock, a renamed restaurant, a detail that has changed — tell us and we'll fix it and note the update. Reader corrections are one of the main ways the guide stays accurate between our own annual passes.
